The Journey Inward Wholeness – Approaching Life Holistically
The Journey Inward Wholeness
Definition of Wholeness:
The word holism comes from the Greek word meaning whole, complete, everything.
Holism takes the totality into consideration as more than just the sum of its parts. It suggests that everything in the universe is interconnected in some way or another and can exist only in relation to the whole.
One area that this comes into play without many of us realizing is that our emotional and mental well-being has a significant impact on our physical well-being.
You may have heard the term holistic healing or holistic medicine, a term that is gaining more popularity in recent years. The holistic approach however is not limited only to our health. Ultimately, these are principles that can adapt in our everyday living in order to benefit our overall well-being in all aspects of our lives.
We should try to actively make conscious decisions and participate in a developmental process that will guide us throughout being our whole self.
Approaching Life Holistically
When we let our emotions take control of our decisions and actions, whether it’s conscious or not, we can forecast stress, disease and imbalances as prevailing consequences in our lives, which will contribute to poor physical and mental well-being that can result in real health problems.
True well-being is a state of being and feeling happy with your core self. In other words, it’s being the person you really are.
Our mind, the body and our emotions are intrinsically interconnected, and they all have the ability separately to affect our whole self tremendously. Hence, overall well-being by supporting and balancing all of these is critical to our lives.
Feeling truly fulfilled and reaching our full potential is one of the fundamental goals we all want to achieve during the journey of our lives. But in order for us to experience that, along with true well-being, our mind, emotions and body have to be balanced.
There are several effective methods that we can apply to our lives that contribute to well-being. In general, however, each of these is helpful in alleviating the acute symptoms that affect only one or two aspects of your life, neglecting all the other ones.
To become a whole being, according to the holistic approach, we need to take all eight aspects of our life into account.
8 Essential Aspects of Life
These eight essential aspects of life that lead to well-being and wholeness are the:
- physical
- emotional
- spiritual
- social
- occupational
- environmental
- financial
- intellectual
If one area of our life is lacking, or even just not in harmony, we tend to compensate it in another area of our life, creating disharmony and imbalances.
A permanent deliberate focus on all parts of our lives is what it takes to transform us into a WELL-THY whole being.
Wholeness means that a balance between all of those individual aspects has been established, and that each component ultimately supports each other and there is no conflict between them.
Being a whole person means that your mind, body, spirit and soul are conspiring together in manifesting unconditional love and, happiness in your life and supporting you to rediscover your soul’s purpose.
